DeleteAs a teacher we all understand that there are various groups of learners in the same class room.But within the strict regulation of school timings it is not always possible on our part to address to the various needs of students depending on their different levels of understanding & methods of analysis.After undergoing several trainings conducted by NCERT i've started setting up PLCs among my students so that the fast pace learners can help those who are medium & slow pace learners.

There are several ways, a teacher can use to meet the needs of diverse learners: understanding & identifying the needs of each student, encourage active learning, provide learning activities that are based on real life situations, plan and prepare the lesson or teaching strategies accordingly, congenial physical environment as well as relationship with the students.

ReplyDeleteDiversity is one of the main characteristic in all classrooms. Teachers should see that as garden are full of variety of plants, so all classrooms are full of students with individual differences. Teaching must adapt to all students so as to fulfill their aim and objectives.

ReplyDeleteFor addressing diversity in Classroom, teachers must aware with all the curriculum that should be taken up in a diversity classroom. We must be able to handle any situation in a diversified classroom. Teachers should require the relevant knowledge and understanding attitudes, values, skills etc., there should be flexibility and innovative ways of teaching. Teachers should taken up all the necessary strategies and steps to be able to handle the behavior of every students in a diversity classroom so that it builds and encourage the students to think differently. We should convert homogenous classroom into heterogeneous classroom. Diversity classroom teaches the students to appreciate different perspective, it also create a healthy environment in the class.
ReplyDeleteLearners are different from each other in all respects. It's natural that there will be diversity in our Classroom. Some of them may be frontline learners while some may be backwards. So all need some kinds of motivation. As in the fable even a tortoise or a rat or an ant or a bee is very much committed to their duty. Every animal whatever their physical strength be, they are hardworking, they have perseverance and they maintain discipline to reach to their goals. So, fable like "Tortoise and the Here" shows that SLOW BUT STEADY WINS THE RACE. This type of motivational activity may boost even the slow learners. Therefore Steadiness, Perseverance Discipline are some of the important action points.

1. Choose and follow a Curriculum which is inclusive, activity based, and which caters to different needs of students.

3. Well-designed Assessment methods to be adopted to motivate the learners and not to demotivate them.
4. Teacher support material required to guide teachers in transacting the syllabus towards holistic development of students.
5. Learning Outcomes should be the basis upon which competencies of students be decided.
Each learner have different ability hence teachers should focus on their specific talentless and support them for growing their extraordinary ability so that they can become genius on that ability which they acquire from their heredity.

As an educator I must recognize how the intersections of race, gender, ethnicity, religion and background of each individual impact us as a whole. ReplyDeleteUnity in diversity is an expression of harmony amidst various dissimilarities. A school may prepare learners to learn various subjects. But one should keep in mind that every child is a unique being having different potential and calibre. Patience is the greatest virtue and we need to apply this to our students. We must see that each child is allowed to participate in the learning process, gets motivated and given equal importance. We must ensure inclusive learning and environment to all students paying careful attention to those who have special interests and capabilities so they can excel. But this does not imply negligence to those who may lack behind. Infact, every child needs to be appreciated and we should help them to discover their strength and overcome their weakness.
ReplyDeleteWith poor internet connectivity to affording a smart phone is very challenging for our kids as most of their parents are daily wage earners...and also students itself work as a maid in somebody's house and study.....only God knows it was very difficult for us to communicate with them so that we can plan something.....somehow we manage few students some drop in the middle of the year......we helped them through YouTube videos, made some of our own videos, written notes...and send via WhatsApp....

ReplyDeletePromoting diversity and inclusiveness in the classroom is the basic goal of teachers, as our modern society is highly diverse and multicultural.
As teachers and educators, to ensure that our students succeed, it is very important for them to have the right knowledge, skills and attitude. We also need to help our students see their strengths and weaknesses and also help them focus on their strength instead of their weaknesses.
Every individual is different.Each child has his or her strengths and weaknesses.These strengths and weaknesses both should be respected and adequate facility should be given to harness the strengths.

ReplyDeleteEvery child is an individual and has his or her own perception of things. As teachers we should not try to make them conform to our preconceived sets of notions but should pave the way for them to grow and blossom at their own pace. An all inclusive atmosphere should be the norm of our classroom and also to identify the skills of each one and try promote them with love and respect.

ReplyDeleteA teacher must identify, understand and accept the uniqueness of every child. In that way, a teacher then can create an appropriate learning environment for the students by encouraging the students to improve in their own abilities. He/She can motivate learning by challenging the bright students to tackle high order problems through self study and under teacher's guidance. For the average and weaker ones, a teacher can motivate and help them to overcome their limits and perform better in their learning process.
Teacher should understand /able to know the capability of different types of learners ( fast, average, slow), motivate and encourage them to arouse interest of the pupils behaviour. Help and guide them so that they can improve their performance in all spheres and will get confident to participate in both accademic and co-curricular activities.
ReplyDeleteA classroom is a typical example of diversity. Each child is unique and shows interest inna particular area. They should be given choices of subjects. A child may be brilliant in Mathematics but may not be good in History or vice versa. So they should be given choices of subjects which they are interested in and teacher should always remain unbiased and guide each student equally. A teacher should be able to understand or locate the hidden talents in children and guide them to bring out their best . Each student should get opportunity to perform well according to their potentials.

We already are aware that each child is different, but through the fable we realize that there are students with different abilities and capabilities in class,and that is something that most teachers tend to look away. That is where the min drawback is. The fable helped us see that we cannot compare our students in how they perform as each individual is unique and have their own strength in particular fields.

ReplyDeleteSometimes as parents and teachers we tend to overlook the academic strength and weakness of the child and tend to make the child suffer because of our lack of perceptive of the child performance. A child may be a great Mathematicians but may get an overall average marks in class, due to his poor performance in other subjects. Hence we as Teachers and especially the child’s Parent, must understand the strength and weakness of the child in academics, so as not to discourage the child performance in school, but help him/her to improve in other subjects also, because curriculum is such that, the child have to perform in all subjects, in order to be promoted to higher classes.

As a teacher we must tackle the students according to their needs and capabilities we must create a warm and healthy environment to all the students in the classroom, helping them and assist them. ReplyDeleteFor a teacher to be able to deliver his or her lectures effectively in the classroom, one of the most vital aspect of teaching learning is to know the background of the learners so that concrete measures can be adopted for their holistic development -- the primary objective of teaching learning. The environment in the class should be such that every child develops the feeling of " oneness" no child should be discriminated on the basis of their background or on the basis of their capability. The teacher must take adequate steps to create such a classroom where their is a feeling of cooperation, respect, discussion and above all mutual trust for each other.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a movie " Taare Jameen Par" which i tell my students as well as i tell it to myself when i am in a dilemma " What should i do? the movie sends a very strong message that every child is born with a quality as a teacher or as a parent our prime duty is to identify that special talent of the child and motivate the child towards his or her field of interest. In this way we can have an ideal set up of an inclusive classroom where we learn together and move forward towards realizing the goal of school education.
As a teacher we should understand that every child are different and unique in their own ways. Everyone has their own strength and weaknesses and it's our duty to find out their capabilities and encourage each child to give their best out of their capabilities. Positive reinforcement is how we can motivate them to do their best.

ReplyDeleteAs a teacher i feel teaching is a sacred job, it is a calling to make our student the best in their own place and this i feel we can do when we realised each and every child is unique and important and by understanding their differences we can do our best to help our students to explre their potential and abilities. I teach in a school where some students don't have their own phone and so I try to be more flexible with them, give them a chance to learn at their own pace by providing them with videos, for those who cannot attend online classes I recorded audio explanation and the transcript so that they can listen whenever they have time and network at home.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I find that schools should be conducive to all forms of learning and different subjects. We as teachers are then to observe students in their performances and guide them in what they are most capable and gifted. Teachers should never force learning to the point that students fear of hate schools. It should be a place where students have fun and learn many skills so they can become better human beings and contribute to the society and to mankind.
ReplyDeleteInteraction with the students is done through whatapp and other apps . Before the Pandemic there was direct teacher -pupil interaction inside the classroom but because of the Pandemic, useful apps are used to impart knowledge to them . It is interesting to see that use of different apps for their studies give lots of advantages, but as far as teachers concerned classroom teaching is the best choice .
