Sketch your dream house using the three dimensional shapes like sphere, cone, cuboid, cube etc. and count the number of shapes you have used in the sketch. Appreciate the architectural beauty of the created sketch by using any medium of expression of your choice. You may express your thoughts in the form of a limerick (5 line humorous poem with lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyming to each other) or in the form of expressive passages. Share your limerick.

ReplyDeleteI am teaching on the subject of Political Science in the Higher Secondary section. Everyone knows that it is a branch of Social Sciences and there we can rather we should implement art intrigated learning. Art intrigated learning is experiential in nature and so it leads to the holistic development of every learner by the actual involvement of all the three domains like cognitive,psycho-motor and affective.
ReplyDeleteIn learning the topics on Political Science both the visual arts and performing arts are to be introduced. As for example Performing Arts like dramatisation was introduced at the time of discussion on Parliament. Through dramatization a model Parliament was formed where the learners act as MPs,or Minister or President etc. and they conducted a session in the parliament. In this way a better learning outcome was experienced. So, it becomes an inclusive approach at the end of the day that takes the form of a joyful learning.
For Social Science, dramatisation can really helps but takes time to prepare, other forms of art if use appropriately can enrich learning experience

A teacher can incorporate various visual and performing arts for teaching of the English Literature. Poetry, for instance, can be taught as a song. That way the learners will never forget its lines and further incorporation of music can make it more appealing to the learners and help them to feel the emotions involved in it. For learning drama, the students can be made to enact it by allotment of various roles/characters to them. They can actually act out and speak out the lines of their characters. They can also be taught to make some theatrical properties(props) and costumes out of available materials for the same purpose. By physically and emotionally involving themselves in their lessons, they can remember them better and also learn a lot of arts and crafts at the same time.

ReplyDeleteSocial science itself is an integrated subject comprising of History , Civics , Economics , Geography. Students can interconnect the different subjects with the help of visual and performing arts. For example, while studying topics like Nationalism in India, students can learn certain concepts like Jallianwala Bagh incidents by dramatizing the event .Again the students can critically analysis the politics behind the incident and develop sketches of the people involved in the event . They can also understand the economic condition of the people who came to the Bagh to celebrate the Holy festival of Baisakhi as also the climatic condition of the place by the way they dress themselves for the drama .

ReplyDeleteAIL can be one of the most effective teaching n learning methods/models in secondary school as it is based on learning through the arts and with the arts. In maths which is my teaching subject, I feel that AIL helps to concretise mathematics concepts such as Square, square root, cube, cube root, as well as topics in mensuration such as 2D and 3D, linear equations etc etc,and in turn teaching n learning become more enjoyable, lively, and more productive.
